Ingredients like cake mix, oil, water and egg to make Ice cream cone cupcakes recipe.

  • A box of Cake Mix: Or you can make your cone cupcakes with a homemade cupcake batter from scratch or using a box mix.

How do you make ice cream cone cupcakes:

Store bought chocolate cupcake mix with egg, oil and water in a glass bowl.

Cupcake batter in ice cream cones lined in a cupcake tray.
Baked cupcakes in cic cream cones cooling in a cupcake pan.

  1. If using a box mix, simply follow instructions on the package to prepare batter. You may select the flavor of your choice. I went with chocolate this time!
  2. Line your cupcake pans with tin foil before placing cones to prevent the cones from burning.
  3. Then pour cupcake batter in to cones as you would in to liners and bake them. Don't worry the cones won't burn.
  4. Frost on cooled cupcakes.
  5. Top with sprinkles.

How do you store cupcake cones?

I suggest storing them without covering. This will prevent them from turning soggy.

How can I prevent cupcake cones from getting soggy?

You can do 2 things to prevent your ice cream cone cupcakes from turning soggy:

Texture of creamy chocolate frosting with fluffy chocolate cupcake in a cone!

  1. Don't bake them way ahead of time. May be bake these just 1-2 hours before serving.
  2. Or you can poke a few holes in the bottom of each baked cone cupcakes to allow steam and air to pass. This way the cones won't turn soggy!

These Cone Cupcakes are so adorable! I'm excited to make them for my God Daughter's Birthday this weekend! I hope they look as good as yours do! Do you suggest making them that day or can I make them a day ahead of time?

    Thanks in advance

How fun and easy these are! They remind me of the cupcake cones my mom would make when I was a kid, so they are so nostalgic for me! Your frosting is gorgeous, and I love those sprinkles!

What a cute idea. I've been wanting to make something special for the grandsons. I love that I don't have to use paper liners - the cones are so much better. This is an inspiration that will come in handy - especially for Halloween.
